It is now practically its own form of cinema, with so many spoofs of so many events that there are Top Ten lists highlighting excellent pieces of work like this Lego trailer for Cars 2, the 2012 London Olympics, a hilarious Star Wars trilogy recap and a comedy bit of Darth Vader in the Death Star canteen.

Video: Official trailer for Grand Theft Auto V steals our attention

Grand Theft Auto V Trailer

If there was any doubt that the latest installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise wouldn’t be good, we’re pretty certain the game’s official trailer, just released by Rockstar Games, will be enough to erase it from the collective minds of the public. We’ve got the one-minute launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto V, and it shows everything from the cinematic sequences and arguments among the crew to some of the heists that players will be able to undertake.

We’ve followed GTAV rather obsessively since word of the game first broke out, and every piece of it that we see gets us more and more excited for the eventual product. The game’s three protagonists get plenty of face time in this trailer, which shows that they’ll all have some actual depth, rather than the recyclable, generic backstories of previous GTA heroes.

Just in case you need another reminder, Grand Theft Auto V will hit stores on September 17, and will be available on both Microsoft and Sony gaming consoles. Take a scroll down below for the official launch trailer.

The Crew gameplay trailer and walkthrough

It’s easy to get excited about Gran Turismo 6 and Forza Motorsport 5, but the next-generation of video game consoles are showing signs of bringing new twists on the traditional racing simulators to market. Besides the Playstation exclusive game, DriveClub, there’s the multi-platform title The Crew. Developed by a band of UK developers, we covered this game when it first arrived at the E3 conference back in June. Now, with the Gamescom conference in full swing, we’ve gotten another taste of The Crew‘s social focus and how it integrates into the game, along with another taste of vehicle customization.

The video, narrated by Julian Gerighty, the game’s creative director, gives our best look yet at how The Crew differs from traditional racing games. Its strong emphasis on social gaming may be off-putting to some gamers, but we like the idea of a teamwork-oriented racer. Take a look at the whole gameplay trailer from Gamescom below, and let us know what you think in Comments. Is a social racing game going to work?

Video: Malcolm Bricklin documentary The Entrepreneur gets official trailer

Subaru 360s, Fiat X1/9s, and even an electric bicycle – Malcolm Bricklin has been involved in the sale of each of them. You can even thank him for the loathed Yugo, which he brought to the US.

Bricklin’s most recent adventure of note was bringing Cherys to the US market. That deal, which should have seen Chinese cars on US shores by 2007 fell through. Bricklin sued, claiming he lost money on start-up costs and for expected profits.

Now, there’s a documentary, five years in the making, on the Chery business. Directed and filmed by Bricklin’s son, Jonathan, The Entrepreneur follows the jet-setting executive to various meetings as he tries to secure funding and manufacturing contracts along with the internal discussions about the business itself.

The Entrepreneur is available on on-demand cable, iTunes, Hulu, and SnagFilms. Check out the trailer below.

Video: Latest Rush trailer reminds us that James Hunt was awesome

Rush The Movie - trailer screencap of F1 field in the rain

Rush, the upcoming Ron Howard flick that focuses on the intense rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda during the 1976 Formula One World Championship, is looking better and better with each trailer.

The most recent spot focuses on Hunt, playing up his reputation as a notorious womanizer and playboy. You get a glimpse of the transformation that Chris Hemsworth’s character goes through as the movie proceeds, from the free spirit shown in the beginning of the trailer to the intense competitor eager to best Lauda.

Take a look at the trailer below and be sure to check out the previous clips here and here. Rush hits theaters on September 27. Don’t plan on much from Autoblog that day – we’ll all be at the theater.

Easier Said Than Done rally documentary

Combining moving visuals – slow-motion camera shots, impossible angles, beautiful scenery and, of course, ridiculously fast rally cars – with compelling storylines is a sure-fire way to win some friends in the Autoblog offices. And that’s exactly what the video you’ll see below has to offer.

As a teaser for a full-length documentary called Easier Said Than Done that’s slated to be released on September 28th (internet release coming on October 1st), this video succeeds in whetting our appetites for the rest of the show – promising footage shot in eight countries over a period of 18 months – while leaving enough to the imagination that our ridiculously short attention spans aren’t left too far behind.

Check out the video below, then set a reminder in your calendar for the end of September to watch the rest.

Video: Cars 2 trailer remade in Lego Land

Cars 2 trailer in Lego

Cars 2 trailer in Lego – Click above to watch the video after the break

Cars 2 Lego charactersIf there’s a cooler child’s toy for adults than a box of Legos, we don’t know what it is. To wit, it’s possible to take a couple handfuls of Lego blocks and assemble a miniature car… or a couple hundred pounds of the bricks to make a full-size car. And since you’re apparently someone who, like us, obsesses over the automobile, there’s really no better way to spend quality time with the kids than joining them in a marathon session of Lego building.

But what if you have even grander Lego-based aspirations? The sky’s the limit as far as Legos go, as evidenced by the video you’re about to watch after the break. Combining two of our most recent we’re-really-too-old-for-this obsessions, one pioneering Lego building team recreated the entire trailer for Pixar’s Cars 2 using nothing but little plastic building blocks. Well, they may have cheated a little with lighting and, of course, cameras… but we won’t hold that against them for such a worthwhile endeavor.

See for yourself in the video after the break.
